Australian police investigating after 2 bodies found in northern Sydney

SYDNEY - Australian police have launched an investigation after the bodies of two people were found at a home in Sydney's northern suburbs.

Emergency services were called to conduct a welfare check at the home in Forestville, about 12 km north of central Sydney in the state of New South Wales (NSW) on Wednesday, NSW Police said in a statement on Thursday.

Police officers attended the scene and found the bodies of a man and a woman in an outbuilding at the rear of the property.

The statement said the bodies have not yet been formally identified but that the man is believed to be aged in his 40s and the woman in her 50s.

A crime scene was established and police have commenced inquiries into the circumstances of the deaths with the assistance of the homicide squad.
