Russia downs 112 Ukrainian drones overnight

MOSCOW - Russia's air defenses shot down 112 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 24 over the Moscow region, the defense ministry said Friday.

"Starting from 8 pm Moscow time (1700 GMT) on May 22, on-duty air defenses intercepted and destroyed 112 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones over Russian regions," the Defense Ministry said.

Those drones included 24 shot down over the Moscow region, 22 over Crimea, 18 over Tula, and 11 over Kursk, according to the ministry.

In Yelets, a city in the Lipetsk region, drone debris fell in an industrial area, causing a fire. Eight people were injured as a result, the regional governor said.
