Chinese shuttlers reach two finals at Badminton Thailand Open

BANGKOK - The Chinese badminton team secured berths in two finals at the 2025 Thailand Open on Saturday, with Chen Yufei advancing to the women's singles final and Chinese pairs Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping and Gao Jiaxuan/Wu Mengying set to face each other in the mixed doubles final.

In the women's singles semifinal, Chen defeated Japan's Tomoka Miyazaki 21-11, 23-21 to set up a final clash against home favorite Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand.

Chen, who previously won the Thailand Open title in 2019, expressed her desire to clinch the gold again in this year's final.

China also secured both spots in the mixed doubles final. Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping overcame Indonesia's Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah 21-18, 21-13. Their teammates Gao Jiaxuan and Wu Mengying dominated the other semifinal in straight sets, needing just 28 minutes to ensure China the gold medal in mixed doubles.

In men's singles, China's Lu Guangzu lost despite taking the opening set, falling 18-21, 21-13, 21-16 to Denmark's Anders Antonsen in the semifinal.
