China is willing to develop its relations with Canada based on mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said after Mark Carney's Liberal Party won Monday's parliamentary elections in Canada.
China's position on issues related to China-Canada relations has always been consistent and clear, Guo told a daily news briefing on Tuesday.

Carney's Liberals have held on to power, winning enough seats in the 45th federal election to form a minority government, and he is expected to remain prime minister, according to Canadian media reports.
