JERUSALEM - Israel's military said on Sunday that it had intercepted a ballistic missile launched from Yemen toward the Dead Sea early in the morning before it crossed into Israeli territory.
Police said sirens were sounded in the Dead Sea area and the Arava region.
No casualties were reported, said the country's Magen David Adom rescue service.

Since the start of the Gaza conflict in October 2023, Iran-backed Houthi forces have been launching missiles and drones at Israel in a show of solidarity with Palestinians.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that this was the 11th missile the Houthis had launched toward Israel since the beginning of April.

In the early hours of Saturday, a missile triggered sirens in the southern city of Beersheba before being intercepted.
Last Wednesday, Houthi forces fired a missile toward the northern city of Haifa, the first such attack targeting the northern region, which Israeli forces said they had intercepted.
