KUALA LUMPUR - Chinese shuttlers put up a strong performance on Day 2 of the 2024 badminton Malaysia Masters at the Axiata Arena here on Wednesday.
Lu Guangzu overpowered Lee Chia Hao of Chinese Taipei 23-21, 21-12, and Li Shifeng beat France's Toma Junior Popov 12-21, 21-19, 21-15 in the men's singles.
On the women's side, singles top seed Han Yue outclassed Malaysia's Letshanaa Karupathevan 21-14, 21-9, Gao Fangjie defeated India's Unnati Hooda 21-13, 21-18, and fellow Chinese Zhang Yiman and Wang Zhiyi also advanced.

Men's doubles pair Chen Boyang and Liu Yi beat Bjarne Geiss and Jan Colin Volker of Germany 21-14, 21-10.
Their mixed doubles teammates Cheng Xing and Li Qian easily outplayed Malaysia's Chan Peng Soon and Cheah Yee See 21-10, 21-6, while the other Chinese duo Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui overcame an Indonesian pair.

Setbacks came in the men's singles and mixed doubles for the Chinese team as Zhao Junpeng, Lei Lanxi and the pair of Zhou Zhihong and Yang Jiayi were shown the door out on Wednesday.
