BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.08 percent to 3,122.40 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.21 percent higher at 9,604.13 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices reached 847.8 billion yuan (about $119.37 billion), up from the 761.07 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Shares related to real estate and tourism were among the biggest gainers, while those in the shipping and precious metal sectors declined the most.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.29 percent to close at 1,844.21 points Thursday.
