Forum marks Maitreya foundation anniversary

HONG KONG – The First Juvenile and Youth “Compassion” Culture Forum Award Ceremony cum the Closing Ceremony of the Maitreya Tri-Forums and Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition was held on Saturday.

The events were organized as the pre-celebration of the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Institute of Maitreya Studies (Hong Kong), the 15th anniversary of the Maitreya Culture and Education Foundation, and the 105th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement.

The complete series of celebrations include the First Juvenile and Youth “Compassion” Culture Forum, the Second Maitreya Studies Middle-Aged and Young Scholars Forum, the Third Maitreya Studies International Academic Forum, the Exchange of Elaboration of Chinese Cultural Classics, and the Exhibition on Contemporary Calligraphy and Paintings of Eminent Figures in the Flourishing Culture of Tang Dynasty in Chinese History.

During the ceremony, Professor Andrew LC Wong, chairman of the organizing committee of the events, expressed his gratitude to the principals, teachers, and students of high schools in Hong Kong, as well as the senior management of universities, professors, and artists for their support and participation.

“The purpose of each of our activities is to inspire young people and adults to be active, diligent and tireless to pass on and promote Chinese culture. These activities are also a necessary way to spread positive energy and build a harmonious society,” Wong said.

He emphasized that the Maitreya Culture and Education Foundation and Institute of Maitreya Studies (Hong Kong) have always been dedicated to the promotion of the "Compassion" culture, which is the essence of traditional Chinese culture.

Since 2013, the foundation has organized a number of activities targeting young people studying in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Great Bay Area, and young scholars and artists from Chinese mainland and abroad, said Wang.
