The Ministry of Public Security recently launched 2024's "Fox Hunt" operation, a special operation to apprehend economic fugitives.

Since the operation's first version in 2014, over 9,000 fugitive suspects involved in economic crimes have been apprehended and escorted back to China from 120 countries and regions, recovering nearly 49 billion yuan ($6.76 billion) in assets, it said.

"Fox Hunt 2024" is a crucial part of the "Sky Net 2024" operation, which is orchestrated by the Fugitive Repatriation and Asset Recovery Office of the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group targeting corrupt officials who fled overseas.

Public security organs will intensify efforts to focus on key cases in the pursuit and recovery of stolen assets, and will expand and deepen channels for law enforcement cooperation, said the ministry.
