CHENGDU - Georgia clinched a 13-7 victory over China in water polo men's preliminary at the 31st FISU World University Games here on Thursday.
China trailed 3-2 in the first period, and had the deficit enlarged further in the second period. They tried but failed to turn the tide eventually.
"Our team did a good job defensively at the beginning, but as Georgia changed offensive tactics, we didn't respond effectively," said Wang Minhui, China's head coach.
In other games on Thursday, Hungary crushed Singapore 27-2, Germany beat Japan 14-8, Slovakia defeated South Korea 11-9, and Italy upset the United States 13-11.
