BERLIN – Following the noisy departure of former chairman Oliver Kahn and former sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern Munich finds itself ahead of significant changes.
Aside from having to restructure the wavering squad due to an inconsistent performance in the 2022/23 season, vital positions in the Bavarian leadership board need to be refilled.

While most players enjoy a vacation break after surprisingly taking the 2023 German title in a nail-biting finish one point ahead of rival Borussia Dortmund, former club leaders such as Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeness are busy finding solutions.
Club announcements talk of the attempt to find a new sporting director by the end of the year while former financial director Jan-Christian Dreesen was appointed as the successor of departing Kahn.

The disputed change of coaches from Julian Nagelsmann to Thomas Tuchel and the disappointing exit in the UEFA Champions League and the German Cup has caused deep unrest; not to speak of the in-house troubles.
In an interview with the sports magazine kicker, Hoeness accused Kahn of having spoiled the in-club atmosphere by relying on outside advisors with whom the 53-year-old for years has kept a close relationship.
"We would have initiated the changes even if we would have won three titles," Hoeness told the kicker.
The 71-year-old admitted Kahn couldn't meet expectations when trying to fill out the important position as the club's leader. "We thought his personality will help do the job, but there were advisors from outside he relied on," Hoeness stated.
While statements from Herbert Hainer speak of a smooth agreement with Salihamidzic, the club president is reported to have disagreements with the former German national keeper.
Hainer spoke about a noisy debate with Kahn while Bayern announced to soon find a termination agreement with the former Bayern keeper. Kahn confirmed the negotiation about a peaceful solution and said he shares the club's interest.
The 2001 Champions League winner complained about the club's order to stay away from Tuchel's team's title celebrations.
The 1996 European champion spoke about the "worst day in my life" after receiving the club's order.
Coach Tuchel skipped vacation plans as he reported staying in Munich to supervise the squad selection for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
The squad selection and the newly formed leader-board are said to be based on the expertise of Hoeness and Rummenigge.
Coach Tuchel denied rumors of wanting to leave and confirmed to stay in Munich to rebuild the squad and head for new goals such as the Champions League.
