BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed mixed Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.4 percent to 3,297.32 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.12 percent lower at 11,078.28 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 879.9 billion yuan ($125.7 billion), up from 781.39 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Shares related to communication equipment led the gains, while those related to automobile service and hotels suffered the biggest losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.68 percent to close at 2,277.97 points.
