Wang calls on united front for advancing modernization

BEIJING — A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called on the united front to pool great strength for advancing Chinese modernization.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks at a united front seminar that opened on Monday.

Wang said the united front should effectively play its role in rallying the people's support and pooling their strength to build a modern socialist country in all respects.

Members of the united front should improve their capacity for political judgment, thinking and implementation, Wang said, urging efforts to ensure the Party's ongoing education campaign is organized well and carried out within the united front system.

The united front should shoulder its due responsibility and mission of ensuring great unity and solidarity in the advancement of Chinese modernization, and thoroughly implement the tasks and plans laid out at the 20th CPC National Congress for the united front work, Wang added.

Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the opening of the seminar.
