HK Customs concludes First Inspector Induction Course

Hong Kong Customs has successfully concluded the First Inspector Induction Course: National and Mainland Customs Operations Studies in the Chinese mainland.

This is the first time Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department has arranged for newly recruited inspectors to receive induction training, to attend a study and exchange program in the mainland, according to the department.

Speaking at the opening ceremony at the Shanghai Customs College on March 27, HOng Kong Commissioner of Customs and Excise Louise Ho Pui-shan said the arrangement is to deepen the understanding of Hong Kong inspectors about the operation and latest developments of mainland customs, national security and national affairs. 

The course ended on March 31. Relevant arrangements are expected to become a regular part of the Inspector Induction Course at Hong Kong Customs.

During her stay in the mainland, Ho and her team visited Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong to seek further customs cooperation.

On March 28 she called on the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China in Beijing and met with GACC Minister Yu Jianhua. Both look forward to expanding Smart Customs operations and deepening related collaboration between mainland and Hong Kong. 

Ho also expressed her gratitude to the GACC for its continuous support for Hong Kong Customs. She visited varied customs districts in the mainland within six days.
