HONG KONG - Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Chinese mainland authorities last week discussed deepening cooperation on research and development, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong said Sunday.
In an interview with reporters after attending a radio program, Sun said the SAR government signed an agreement with the Ministry of Science and Technology and talked about sharing innovation and technology resources in particular for science and technology development.
Sun reiterated that the SAR government intends to turn Hong Kong into an international hub for artificial intelligence and data science
“We also talked about technology transfer, manpower exchange and so on. We want to, in particular, strengthen the advantage of the internationalization of Hong Kong,” Sun said.

“We will strengthen the coordination at the top level between Hong Kong and the Mainland authorities.”
Sun reiterated that the SAR government intends to turn Hong Kong into an international hub for artificial intelligence and data science.
“I said many times before that Hong Kong aims to build a data hub, Hong Kong wants to build an international centre in several areas, including AI and data science,” he said

“Meanwhile, we try to enhance our data infrastructure development, including considering the development of an AI Supercomputing Centre. We hope everything can go smoothly.”
