Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu said on Saturday he’ll strive to further integrate the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region into national development and lead the city in accelerating economic revival through the country’s major development strategies.

Lee made the remarks before leaving for Beijing to attend the opening ceremony of the first session of the 14th National People’s Congress, which opens on Sunday. He’ll return to Hong Kong after that and depart for Beijing again to attend the session’s closing ceremony on March 13.

Lee said the SAR government’s Steering Group on Integration into National Development has formulated many policies to accelerate the city’s integration into national blueprints

Lee noted it’s the first time he’ll be attending the NPC session’s opening ceremony and felt “quite encouraged”. He will use the opportunity to further boost the SAR’s development and promote its participation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area blueprint and the Belt and Road Initiative.
