Ruichang advances to final in China Badminton Super League

LINGSHUI, China - Ruichang Biyuan advanced to the final of the China Badminton Super League (CBSL) after defeating Shenzhen Yuzhong in a five-rubber thriller in Lingshui, south China's Hainan province on Monday.

Ruichang earned the first point as Li Junhui and Liu Xuanxuan rallied past Liang Weikeng and Zhang Shuxian 7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-7 in the mixed doubles, before He Bingjiao beat Zhang Yiman 11-8, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5 in the women's singles to double the lead.

Shenzhen fought back after trailing 2-0. In the women's doubles, Zheng Yu and Zhang Shuxian came back from one set down to defeat He Bingjiao and Liu Xuanxuan 8-11, 12-10, 12-10, 11-5.

In the men's singles clash, Sun Feixiang smashed Li Shifeng 11-6, 5-11, 11-8 and 11-3 to level the match at 2-2.

In the men's doubles that decided the final spot, Li Junhui partnered Muhammad Ahsan of Indonesia to a hard-fought 6-11, 11-4, 11-8, 12-14, 11-5 win over Shenzhen's Liang Weigang and Wang Chang.

"We didn't have much communication, but I had experience in international tournaments and I tried to keep up with Ahsan's style," said Li, who took two points for Ruichang.

Zhejiang and Shenzhen will compete for third place on Tuesday, followed by the final between Ruichang and Xiamen.
