Shandong defeat Shanghai in CBA

ZHUJI, China - The Shandong Heroes edged past the Shanghai Sharks in extra time 109-99 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Sunday.

The two sides tied 22-22 in the first quarter. After the second quarter, Shanghai earned a four-point advantage and kept it after the third quarter, though Shandong tied again in the end of regular time.

Sylven Landesberg's four consecutive points helped Shandong lead Shanghai in the opening stage of extra time. Although Shanghai fought hard, it was Shandong who eventually prevailed.

Landesberg got a game-high 29 points, while Shanghai's Eric Bledsoe had 22 points. Wang Zhelin added 20 points and 17 rebounds for Shanghai.

"It was a tough match, Shanghai gave us a lot of pressure through the match. I think we did better in defense, so we got the victory," said Shandong assistant coach Ding Wei.

Elsewhere, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers beat the Ningbo Rockets 83-78.

Tacko Fall contributed 22 points for Xinjiang, while Marko Todorovic got 23 points for Ningbo.

Also on Sunday, the Shanxi Loongs beat the Jiangsu Dragons 94-82, the Shenzhen Aviators defeated the Qingdao Eagles 106-99, and the Zhejiang Lions won 97-81 against the Guangzhou Loong Lions.
