Singapore reports 1,017 new COVID-19 cases

NEW DELHI / KUALA LUMPUR / MANILA / SINGAPORE / HANOI – Singapore reported 1,017 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the total tally to 2,195,980.

A total of 89 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with four of them held in intensive care units, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

No new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Saturday, leaving the total death toll unchanged at 1,710.

India

India's daily COVID-19 caseload Sunday increased to 227, officials said.

According to federal health ministry data released on Sunday morning, 227 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during the past 24 hours.

According to data released by the government, the active caseload stands at 3,424.

The country also logged two related deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 530,693 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.

Malaysia

Malaysia reported 766 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Saturday, bringing the national total to 5,022,910, according to the health ministry.

There are no imported cases, with all 766 cases being local transmissions, data released on the ministry's website showed.

Another new death has been reported, pushing the death toll to 36,831.

Philippines

The Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) reported 834 new COVID-19 infections on Saturday, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 4,060,960.

The DOH said the number of active cases dropped to 16,489, while 22 patients died from COVID-19 complications, pushing the country's death toll to 65,215.

Vietnam

Vietnam recorded 107 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, down 205 from Friday, according to its ministry of health.

This is the lowest daily number recorded in the country in nearly one year, said the ministry.

The new infections brought the total tally to 11,524,202. The Southeast Asian country reported no new deaths from the pandemic on Saturday, with the total fatalities staying at 43,184.
