Hong Kong's health authorities have alerted the public to the cold weather as Sunday’s lowest temperature is expected to be around 8 degrees Celsius.

Cold weather can easily trigger or exacerbate diseases, especially among the elderly and persons suffering from heart disease, respiratory illness, or other chronic illnesses, a spokesman for the Centre for Health Protection said on Saturday.

China Daily's Edmond Tang took the photos in the city on Saturday.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the city will remain cold in the following couple of days, and the temperatures will fall to around 9 degrees Celsius in the urban areas on Monday morning.
