BEIJING - Former Villarreal midfielder Tomas Pina of Spain has linked up with Henan Songshan Longmen on a free transfer, the Chinese Super League club announced on Monday.

"Tomas Pina has joined Henan Songshan Longmen after becoming a free agent this summer," the club said in a statement.

The 34-year-old terminated his contract with the Spanish club Deportivo Alaves in early August.

Pina arrived at Villarreal in July 2016 from Mallorca before spending spells at Brugge and Alaves.

Henan Songshan Longmen currently sits third on the Chinese Super League table after beating Beijing Guoan 3-0 on Sunday, five points behind leader Wuhan Three Towns.
