BEIJING - The attempts by Taiwan leader Tsai Ing-wen and the Democratic Progressive Party authorities to collude with foreign forces will push Taiwan into the abyss of disaster, said a mainland spokesperson on Wednesday.

Tsai and the DPP authorities have entrenched themselves in the separatist stance of "Taiwan independence," refused to recognize the 1992 Consensus, openly promoted the "two states" advocation and recklessly attacked the policy of "one country, two systems," said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.

They have pushed for "de-sinicization" on all fronts in the island and "de jure Taiwan independence," Ma added.

We solemnly warned Tsai (Ing-wen) and the DPP authorities that the attempts to collude with external forces to seek 'Taiwan independence' for the sake of the interests of one person and one party will only accelerate their self-destruction and push Taiwan into the abyss of disaster.

They have intentionally created confrontation across the Taiwan Straits, hijacked the public opinion on the island, instigated populism in Taiwan society and spared no effort in suppressing righteous forces and rational voices in Taiwan that supported the peaceful development of relations across the Straits and peaceful reunification, according to Ma.

Colluding with external anti-China forces, Tsai and the DPP authorities engaged in separatist activities seeking "Taiwan independence" in the international arena; disregarding cross-Straits peace and the safety of Taiwan people, they facilitated the visit to Taiwan by Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the US House of Representatives; soliciting foreign support to challenge the mainland, Tsai and the DPP authorities have put themselves on the opposite side of the Chinese nation.

What they have done gravely undermined the peaceful development of cross-Straits ties, gravely jeopardized cross-Straits peace and stability, and gravely harmed the common interests of compatriots on both sides of the Straits and the fundamental interests of the Chinese nation, Ma said.

"We solemnly warned Tsai and the DPP authorities that the attempts to collude with external forces to seek 'Taiwan independence' for the sake of the interests of one person and one party will only accelerate their self-destruction and push Taiwan into the abyss of disaster," the spokesperson said.

The Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee said the separatist attempt to seek "Taiwan independence" is the biggest obstacle to the reunification of the motherland and is a serious potential danger to China's national rejuvenation

Also on Wednesday, the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee said “die-hard” separatists should be punished in accordance with the law.

In a statement, spokesman for the office said the separatist attempt to seek "Taiwan independence" is the biggest obstacle to the reunification of the motherland and is a serious potential danger to China's national rejuvenation.

“A handful of die-hard ‘Taiwan independence’ elements have recklessly carried out separatist activities, served as pawns for external anti-China forces, and gone to great lengths to create the false impressions of ‘two Chinas,’ ‘one China, one Taiwan’ or ‘Taiwan independence’, the spokesman said.

Their separatist acts are flagrant provocations against China's national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the sanctity of China's law. Such acts and remarks must be severely punished in accordance with the law.

The Constitution explicitly stipulates that Taiwan is part of the sacred territory of the People's Republic of China. According to the Anti-Secession Law and the National Security Law, China's sovereignty and territorial integrity brook no division, the spokesman added.

Under the Criminal Law, those who organize, plot or carry out the scheme of splitting the country or undermining unity of the country shall be convicted and punished for secession, while those who incite others to do so shall be convicted and punished for inciting secession, the spokesman said.
