HONG KONG - A grand ceremony celebrating the 120th anniversary of Ta Kung Pao, the oldest Chinese language newspaper in Hong Kong, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Sunday.

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, sent a congratulatory letter, which was read out at the ceremony by Luo Huining, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor; Chief Executive-designate John Lee Ka-chiu; Zheng Yanxiong, head of the Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong; Liu Guangyuan, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR, and other distinguished guests attended the ceremony.

Ta Kung Pao was founded in 1902 in Tianjin. It is currently the oldest Chinese language newspaper in operation in Hong Kong.
