BERLIN - Manuel Neuer's calm way of speaking might deliver a hint of his well-balanced character.

Germany's No 1 seems a goalkeeper not only relying on an even-tempered attitude regarding life but is pleasantly working toward his paramount ambitions.

Ahead of friendlies against Israel and the Netherlands, the 35-year-old renewed his statements of wanting to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"As a professional footballer, you are rated on the trophies you won," the Bayern keeper told Xinhua in an interview.

Manuel Neuer's ambition to play and win every game possible has been one of his most significant values throughout his career

His ambition to play and win every game possible has been one of Neuer's most significant values throughout his career.

To provide some energy for the German team's restart after Joachim Loew's resignation, Neuer gave pep talks: "I knew we need to follow a vision. We need a goal."

Neuer renewed his demand for the side of the new coach Hansi Flick to win the 2022 World Cup.

"This is what I want, this desire is what I want us to follow," he said.

The goalie has always been a sportsman trying to consider the entire picture.

In a special year containing the Nations League challenges against Italy, England and Hungary this summer followed by the World Cup, it takes a solid mindset in his perspective.

"I know I won't play that many World Cups in my career anymore," the German stated.

To return to the circle of top nations, therefore, has been the first agreement between new coach and team, Neuer added.

The Bayern keeper indicated that he might end his career in advance of the 2024 European Championship hosted by Germany.

"There are no plans to at present say: I demand to be around," Neuer said, "as long as I have fun playing and as long as I can provide top quality, I am happy to play. After all these games, it still is an honor and something very special to slip into the German shirt."

Neuer said he depends on nature and the medical staff to continue. To be ready for action until the age of 40 is nothing he is excluding. The keeper increased recovery time in his daily routines and meticulously monitored his nutrition plans.

Nevertheless, the experienced keeper left the backdoor open by adding, he is happy to help as "I am always happy about every good performance the national team can deliver."

Despite a flood of titles, Neuer never won the European Championship. "Most, not to say, all of us haven't." Needless to say, thinking about the option to win it as the last step is keeping Neuer's mind busy.

The Bayern keeper spoke about the obligation to see the year 2022 as an entire piece.

He called the Nations League, played from June to September, perfect preparation for the tournament taking place in Qatar.

Regarding the load on the players' shoulders, he said detailed planning is providing enough recovery time after the 2021/2022 season of the national league.

"Things are like they are. That means everything this year is dedicated to the World Cup," he commented.

Regarding his 2023 expiring contract with Bayern, there is no new development he said. It is an open secret that Neuer is thinking about continuing until 2025.
