HK: 530 COVID-19 cases detected in targeted testing

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong government said on Sunday that it found 530 preliminary positive COVID-19 cases during overnight targeted testing operations in three districts.

In separate statements, the government said it set up “restricted areas” at two buildings in Tuen Mun and one each in Kwun Tong and Tseung Kwan O after their sewage tested positive for the coronavirus.

The government said 223 preliminary positive cases were found at Tin Hang House, Shun Tin Estate in Kwun Tong after 1,280 people underwent testing.

At Tip Ying House, Butterfly Estate in Tuen Mun, 191 preliminary cases and 32 indeterminate infections were detected after 1,155 persons got tested. 

At Block 3, Po Tin Estate, also in Tuen Mun, 918 people were tested and 46 preliminary cases were found.

The government also said that 1,550 persons had themselves tested at Kin Hei House, Kin Ming Estate, Tseung Kwan O, leading to the detection of 70 preliminary cases and 15 indeterminate infections.

Hong Kong reported 16,597 cases on Saturday, the first time since Feb 27 that the city’s daily infection count fell below 20,000.
