HONG KONG - The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has sent two special teams to the frontline in fighting the city’s COVID-19 outbreak and to better coordinate efforts in dealing with the latest developments.

The teams, led by senior officials of the office, have held intensive discussions with SAR government officials and relevant parties to obtain fresh information on the building and operation of makeshift hospitals constructed with mainland assistance.

They also discussed how anti-pandemic materials are received and distributed in the community, the liaison office said on Sunday.

Other aspects reviewed included the operation of the Sheung Shui slaughterhouse, progress in the work of mainland medical teams sent to Hong Kong, the vaccination and treatment of elderly COVID-19 patients, and the use of hotlines set up to deal with the pandemic.

The office pledged to continue supporting the HKSAR Government in assuming the primary responsibility of combatting the outbreak and facilitating the central government’s implementation of measures and programs against the pandemic.
