HKO: Local temperatures to drop to 9 C post-Christmas

HONG KONG - Hong Kong will see dropping temperatures over the Christmas holiday, with a dramatic cool-down on Monday with the mercury dipping to 9 degrees Celsius.

Saturday will have a few sunny periods during the day. Rain patches will start from Saturday night and become more frequent on Sunday, which will be appreciably cooler and the low reaching 11 degrees, the forecaster said. Monday will be rainy and cold, with the temperatures ranging from 9 to 11 degrees.

With the monsoon moderating gradually and the upper-air disturbance departing, the weather will improve over the coast of Guangdong in the middle and latter parts of next week, the observatory added.

The city will against see sunny weather on Thursday with the highs going up to 20 or 21 degrees over the next weekend.

However, it will remain cool in the morning and at night and the temperature difference between day and night will be relatively large, warned the HKO.
