TIANJIN/SAN JOSE – China and Nicaragua have resumed diplomatic relations.

Officials of the two countries on Friday signed a joint communique in Tianjin on the resumption of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Nicaragua.

The talks took place after Nicaragua's Foreign Ministry announced breaking "diplomatic ties" with Taiwan, an inalienable part of China.

The People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government that represents all of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of the Chinese territory.
