HONG KONG – Hong Kong health authorities are investigating three new cases of COVID-19 infection, including two with the mutant strains.

All new cases were imported and involved one man and two women, said the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health in a statement Saturday.

The 59-year-old man arriving from Germany and the 23-year-old foreign domestic helper flying in from Indonesia both carried the L452R mutant strains, the CHP said. As for the remaining patient – a 35-year-old foreign domestic helper from the Philippines – her viral load was insufficient for a mutation test, said the center.

One of the patients tested positive during quarantine, while the other two tested positive upon arrival at the airport, the center added. All three patients have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
