The new infections – four women and two men aged 33 to 55 – took the city’s tally to 12,292 since the outbreak of the pandemic in Hong Kong in January last year.

Two patients each came from the United Kingdom and the Philippines while one each from Russia and Indonesia. All four countries have been designated as "high-risk" by the HKSAR government

Two patients each came from the United Kingdom and the Philippines while one each from Russia and Indonesia. All four countries have been designated as "high-risk" by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's government. All six new patients have been fully vaccinated.

Among them, the 55-year-old – who is a staff member of the Russian Consulate General in Hong Kong – tested positive during self-isolation at home after arrival under the relevant arrangement for exempted persons.

Three other cases tested positive during the "test-and-hold" arrangement upon arrival at the Temporary Specimen Collection Centre at Hong Kong International Airport while the remaining two tested positive during quarantine at the designated quarantine facilities at Penny's Bay Quarantine Centre and Silka Tsuen Wan, respectively.

The place where the consulate staffer lives – Tower 1 of Grand Promenade in Sai Wan Ho – was declared as a “restricted area” Friday evening. Around 830 residents have been tested for COVID-19 and no positive cases have been detected.

In the past 14 days, 64 cases including a local case with unknown sources have been reported, the CHP said.

The vaccines were filled and finished at a plant in Baxter, Germany and shipped to Hong Kong as arranged by mainland-based pharmaceutical company Fosun Pharma, the government said.
