HK's Lau claims bronze in kata event at National Games

HONG KONG - Hong Kong karatedo athlete Lau Chi-ming won a bronze medal at the 14th National Games in Shaanxi province on Saturday, the fourth medal for Hong Kong at this year's games.

In the bronze medal match of men's individual kata event, Lau scored 24.82 to defeat Guangdong's Yang Kangwei, who has a score of 24.12.

Hong Kong Secretary for Home Affairs Caspar Tsui Ying-wai extended his congratulations to Lau.

"Lau Chi-ming is imposing and demonstrated karatedo movements with power and speed that excited the audience," Tsiu said in a statement. 

Including Lau's medal, Hong Kong has so far claimed one gold and three bronzes in this year's National Games.
