BEIJING - The Chinese mainland on Tuesday reported 21 new COVID-19 cases, all from abroad, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Wednesday.

Of the new cases, 15 were reported in Guangdong, three in Shanghai, two in Jiangsu and one in Sichuan, the report said.

No new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported in the day but three new suspected cases, all from abroad, were recorded.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland reached 91,492 by Tuesday, including 487 patients still receiving treatment, 14 of whom were in severe condition

A total of 6,314 imported cases had been reported on the mainland by the end of Tuesday. Among them, 5,977 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 337 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

A total of 86,369 patients had been discharged from hospitals following recovery on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

A total of 36 asymptomatic cases were newly reported, all from outside the mainland. There were a total of 421 asymptomatic cases, of whom 399 were imported, under medical observation by Tuesday.

By the end of Tuesday, 11,880 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 210 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), while 52 cases had been reported in the Macao SAR, and 13,241 cases, including 460 deaths, had been reported in Taiwan.

A total of 11,600 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, while 51 had been discharged in the Macao SAR, and 1,133 had been discharged in Taiwan.
