Hong Kong stocks closed 1.76% lower

HONG KONG - Hong Kong stocks closed down 513.81 points, or 1.76 percent, to 28,621.92 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 28,506.76 and 28,778.36. Turnover totaled HK$154.40 billion (US$19.88 billion).
