Jimmy Lai pleads guilty to illegal assembly

HONG KONG - Media tycoon Jimmy Lai Chee-ying and two others on Wednesday pleaded guilty to participating in an unauthorized assembly in August 2019.

Lai, activist Lee Cheuk-yan, and part-time university professor Yeung Sum pleaded guilty to participating in an illegal assembly between Wan Chai and Central on Aug 31, 2019. 

The three defendants were arrested on Feb 28, 2020.

Lai was also involved in multiple other cases including illegal assemblies and national security law violations.
