HK logs 11 new COVID-19 cases, 8 local

HONG KONG - Hong Kong reported 11 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, including eight locally transmitted ones, pushing the city’s overall infection tally to 11,066.

Two of the three imported cases reported on Friday were from the Philippines while the remaining one was from Indonesia, according to the Centre for Health Protection

Four of the fresh infections were untraceable, the Centre for Health Protection said in a statement.

They involved an 18-year-old student, a 37-year-old domestic helper, and two clerical staffers aged 47 and 48, respectively, according to the CHP.

Two of the three imported cases reported on Friday were from the Philippines while the remaining one was from Indonesia, according to the statement.

As of Thursday, around 62,000 people had received their first dose of the Sinovac vaccine. In total, 262,700 people have signed up for vaccination with the Sinovac shots, while 104,800 with the Fosun-BioNTech jabs.

According to the city's Hospital Authority, 220 COVID-19 patients are currently being treated in public hospitals and the community treatment facility at AsiaWorld-Expo, including 13 in critical condition.
