Carrie Lam to attend opening of NPC session

HONG KONG - Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor will depart for Beijing via Shenzhen on Thursday to attend the opening ceremony of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress the following day.

Lam will return to Hong Kong on March 7, according to a government release. She will be accompanied by Director of the Chief Executive's Office Chan Kwok-ki on the trip.

During her absence, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung Kin-chung will be acting chief executive.
