Mainland reports no new local virus cases for fourth day

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Thursday, the National Health Commission said Friday.

No new domestic cases had been reported for four consecutive days, according to the commission. The last such case was reported in Hebei province on Sunday.

There were 10 new imported cases reported on the mainland on Thursday, including seven in Shanghai, two in Tianjin and one in the province of Hunan, the National Health Commission said

Meanwhile, the commission said it received reports of 10 new imported COVID-19 cases on Thursday. Of those cases, seven were posted in Shanghai, two in Tianjin and one in the province of Hunan, the commission said

No new suspected cases or deaths related to the disease were reported, it added.

Another 46 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals following their recovery, the commission said, adding that there were 484 patients still receiving treatment, including eight in severe conditions.

By the end of Thursday, a total of 4,913 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Among them, 4,706 had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, and 207 remained hospitalized. No deaths had been reported among the imported cases.

So far, the mainland has reported a total of 89,816 confirmed cases, including 84,696 recoveries and 4,636 deaths.

There were four suspected COVID-19 cases on the mainland by the end of Thursday, and 8,308 close contacts remained under medical observation.

Thursday also saw eight newly reported asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland.

A total of 338 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, of whom 282 arrived from outside the mainland.

By the end of Thursday, 10,820 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 197 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 48 cases in the Macao SAR, and 940 cases, including nine deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 10,298 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, 46 in the Macao SAR, and 886 in Taiwan.
