HK targeted testing finds 4 preliminarily positive cases

HONG KONG - Four people tested preliminarily positive for COVID-19 during the Hong Kong government’s latest targeted testing operations that ended on Monday morning.

The government set up restricted areas in Quarry Bay, Hung Hom and Mong Kok on Sunday night, and told residents to remain in their premises, as it conducted compulsory testing for the coronavirus.

Three of the people who tested preliminarily positive were residents of Wai Lee Building in Quarry Bay, where around 860 people were tested, while the other patient was found at Cheong Lok Mansion in Hung Hom, where around 370 got tested.

Health authorities also reminded people who had stayed for more than two hours in the restricted areas from Jan 25 to Feb 7 that they have to undergo testing even if they were not in these places on Sunday evening. 

The government had earlier announced that the targeted testing drive would continue until Wednesday to ensure that the fourth wave of infections could be brought under control after the Lunar New Year holidays.

Hong Kong reported 27 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 24 local infections, bringing the city’s overall tally to 10,635.
