MADRID - Real Madrid's Belgian international winger Eden Hazard suffered yet another muscle injury on Wednesday, the club has confirmed.

This season Eden Hazard has made just 13 appearances after suffering from a serious ankle problem and a series of muscle injuries

After the Spanish sports papers, El Mundo Deportivo, 'Marca' and 'Diario AS' all reported Hazard had suffered a muscle tear during Wednesday morning's training session, the club confirmed the news with a communique explaining he had "been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his left upper thigh."

It is the 10th injury the winger has suffered since his big money move from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, during which time he has been sidelined for 283 days and missed 43 games.

This season Hazard has made just 13 appearances after suffering from a serious ankle problem and a series of muscle injuries. However, he had started to recover both his fitness and form since the turn of the year and scored in the recent 4-1 away to Deportivo Alaves.

This new injury means Hazard is certain to miss Saturday's La Liga visit to bottom of the table Huesca, but a serious tear would make it almost impossible for him to be fit in time for the first leg of Real Madrid's Champions League last 16 tie against Italian side Atalanta on February 24th.

With Real Madrid already out of the Copa del Rey knockout competition and 10 points behind Atletico Madrid in La Liga, the Champions League looks to be the club's only way to save the season.
