CBA: Zhejiang edges Tianjin, Shenzhen defeats Nanjing

ZHUJI, China - The Zhejiang Golden Bulls defeated the Tianjin Pioneers 113-99, while the Shenzhen Aviators smashed the Nanjing Monkey Kings 106-93 in the 2020-21 CBA here on Tuesday.

When the third-placed team faced the third from the bottom, Zhejiang orchestrated a one-sided game against Tianjin. 

Zhejiang hit seven free throws and a three-pointer to lead by 10-0 after tipoff, before the No 3 pick Lin Ting-Chien answered with seven straight points to break the ice for Tianjin.

Consecutive three-pointers helped Zhejiang end the first quarter with a 11-point lead. After two more quarters, it extended the advantage to 23 points to secure the victory early in the game.

Meng Zikai led Tianjin with 22 points, and Lin had 19 points, three rebounds and six assists.

Sylven Landesberg contributed 34 points, six rebounds and six assists for Zhejiang, Wu Qian, who was listed in the 21-player roster of China's national basketball team to prepare for this month's FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, had 10 points and three assists.

"Wu Qian always has a down-to-earth attitude and plays the role of the key player in our team. I hope he could play well in the national team to have the chance to serve our country," said Zhejiang coach Liu Weiwei.

In the other game on Tuesday, Nanjing suffered its 30th loss of the season. Shenzhen started the game with a 7-0 streak before Nanjing scored the first point from Arnett Moultrie's free throw. Leading by five points after three quarters, Shenzhen stormed an 18-5 run in the early fourth period to end its two-game losing streak.

Five players of Shenzhen scored double digits as Gu Quan led the team with 24 points. Moultrie contributed a double-double of 24 points and 19 rebounds for Nanjing.
