CBA: Shanghai snaps Guangdong's 9-game winning streak, Fujian beats Nanjing

ZHUJI, China - The Shanghai Sharks shocked the Guangdong Southern Tigers 117-92 in the 24th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Monday, ending Guangdong's nine-game winning streak.

For Shanghai, Denmon grabbed a game-high 29 points, Luo Hanchen finished with 22 points, and Fredette took 19 points and nine assists

Defending champions Guangdong opened the game with an 8-4 run and had a 58-52 advantage when the first half ran out.

However, led by Jimmer Fredette and Marcus Denmon, Shanghai turned the tables before the last quarter.

Seeing the score deficit rise to 16 points, Guangdong sent Marshon Brooks on court for the first time with three minutes remaining.

Brooks made only one lay-up out of three and had to watch the Sharks celebrate their fourth straight victory.

Sonny Weems scored a team-high 20 points for Guangdong, Zhao Rui got 18 points, and Zhou Peng contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds.

For Shanghai, Denmon grabbed a game-high 29 points, Luo Hanchen finished with 22 points, and Fredette took 19 points and nine assists.

With center Wang Zhelin back from injury, the Fujian Sturgeons swept the Nanjing Monkey Kings 131-116, despite Arnett Moultrie's 42 points and 21 rebounds for Nanjing.

Chen Linjian collected 31 points for Fujian, Trae Golden grabbed 21 points, and Huang Yichao added 18 points, while Xiralijan Muhtar scored 23 points and 14 assists for Nanjing.

In Monday's three other games, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers beat the Beijing Royal Fighters 113-97 for its fifth straight win, the Zhejiang Lions lost to the Jilin Northeast Tigers 123-98 in their sixth straight loss, and the Tianjin Pioneers edged the Sichuan Blue Whales 112-110.
