CBA: Shandong's 6-game winning streak ends, Liaoning beats Guangzhou

ZHUJI, China - The Xinjiang Flying Tigers snapped the Shandong Heroes' six-match winning streak with a 111-94 victory as the league leader Liaoning Flying Leopards defeated the Guangzhou Loong Lions on the opening day of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league's second stage here on Wednesday.

In the other games, the Jilin Northeast Tigers edged the Jiangsu Dragons 100-98 in overtime

Xinjiang's Zeng Lingxu had 30 points and seven assists while Zhou Qi contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds. Lester Hudson scored a game-high 33 points for Shandong.

The first half was a see-saw battle as Xinjiang had a slender 55-53 lead at the break. Zeng scored six points in a row to lead Xinjiang hit a 14-2 run, outscoring Shandong 33-18 to enter the fourth quarter ahead 88-71.

"Today is my son's birthday and it's special for me, I'm happy with winning the game," Said Zeng.

Title favorites Liaoning came back from a 14-point first-quarter deficit to beat Guangzhou 102-96. Guo Ailun finished with 27 points and seven assists to lead seven players in double figures while former NBA player Jonathon Simmons had 14 points in his debut for Liaoning.

Joseph Yang scored 28 points to lead the Beijing Royal Fighters beat the Qingdao Eagles 105-92. Qingdao's Vladimir Stimac had 25 points and 16 rebounds.

In the other games, the Jilin Northeast Tigers edged the Jiangsu Dragons 100-98 in overtime, and the Nanjing Monkey Kings lost to the Tianjin Pioneers 92-84.
