Despite the victory, Chen thought she had some problem during the process.

"It was an intense match, and I was not quite comfortable when getting into it. The win was a recognition, but I was a bit slow in avoiding some problem on the court," she noted.

"It's the second match that I have participated in during these days. It's fine for me to build momentum in the match, but when opponents push me hard, I need to make adjustments on mentality," Chen acknowledged.

Chen will next face Petrissa Solja of Germany. "We haven't played a lot, so I have to make better preparation for this game," Chen noted.

Sun was unstoppable in front of Jeon Ji-hee of South Korea, storming to a 12-10, 11-8, 11-7, 11-4 victory.

"Her forehand posed great threat to me. The first two games were close. I had a better handle on some crucial points," commented the World Cup runner-up Sun, who will take on South Korean defender Suh Hyo-won in the quarterfinals.

"I need to keep patient about it," Sun said.
