Tianjin local infection among mainland's 15 new cases

BEIJING - The Chinese mainland on Wednesday reported one new locally transmitted COVID-19 case in northern city of Tianjin, the National Health Commission said Thursday.

Wednesday also saw one new suspected case recorded in Shanghai, who had arrived from outside the mainland

Meanwhile, 14 imported COVID-19 cases were reported across the mainland, bringing the total number of imported cases to 3,654, said the commission in a daily reoprt. 

Of the new imported cases, four each were reported in Shanghai and Sichuan, two in Shaanxi and one each in Tianjin, Inner Mongolia, Fujian and Guangdong.

Wednesday also saw one new suspected case recorded in Shanghai, who had arrived from outside the mainland.

No new deaths related to the disease were reported.

Also on Thursday, 24 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery while 413 patients still being treated, including three in severe condition.

Altogether 81,252 patients had been discharged from hospitals after recovery by Wednesday, the commission added.

As of Wednesday, a total of 86,299 confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported on the mainland, among whom 4,634 died of the disease.

Wednesday saw six asymptomatic cases newly reported, all arriving from outside the mainland. On the same day, five asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.

A total of 728 asymptomatic cases were under medical observation, with 457 arriving from outside the mainland.

By the end of Wednesday, 5,407 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 108 deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in the Macao SAR, and 584 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 5,159 COVID-19 patients in the Hong Kong SAR had been discharged from hospitals following recovery, 46 in the Macao SAR, and 528 in Taiwan.
