CBA: Xinjiang's losing streak ends, Zhejiang suffers first defeat

ZHUJI, China - Zhou Qi scored 30 points and 18 rebounds to lead Xinjiang Flying Tigers to end its three-game losing streak after beating Jiangsu Dragons 109-97 on Wednesday in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league season.

Qi Lin pocketed 23 points for Xinjiang, and Zeng Lingxu added 18 points

Zhou was out for a week after suffering a foot injury against the Liaoning Flying Leopards on November 4.

"Zhou is outstanding and plays a crucial role at the post, especially considering that we have many young players in this position," Xinjiang coach Adiljan said.

Both teams traded advantages many times in the first half, and Jiangsu led the game 53-52 at half time. Xinjiang outscored Jiangsu 34-19 in the third quarter, and widened the gap to 18 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

Qi Lin pocketed 23 points for Xinjiang, and Zeng Lingxu added 18 points. Wu Guanxi scored 18 points and 10 rebounds for Jiangsu, and Wu Yujia got 15 points.

Guangdong Southern Tigers edged Zhejiang Golden Bulls 133-125, who suffered its first defeat of the season.

Zhejiang led the first quarter 33-23, and Guangdong narrowed the gap to one point after the second quarter.

Zhejiang still led 99-95 after the third quarter, and Guangdong scored 38 to Zhejiang's 26 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

Marshon Brooks pocketed a game-high 34 points and Sonny Weems added 22 points for Guangdong. Wu Qian scored 33 points for Zhejiang, and Sylven Landesberg got 28 points.

Also on Wednesday, Guo Ailun and Han Dejun combined for 63 points to help Liaoning beat Jilin Northeast Tigers 111-99, Shandong Heroes defeated Tianjin Pioneers 120-102, Fujian Sturgeons extended its losing streak to 10 games after being smashed by Shenzhen Aviators 115-94, and Guangzhou Loong Lions beat Beijing Royal Fighters 92-80.
