HONG KONG – Hong Kong reported nine new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday, including two locally transmitted cases linked to a previous local infection, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said.

The two local cases included that of a 43-year-old woman who lived at Po Nga Court in Tai Po and developed symptoms on Saturday, the CHP said in a statement. She was the 10th patient found in the district over the past week. A three-day government-funded free testing program in Tai Po will continue until Wednesday.

The other new local patient was a 28-year-old woman who lived at Golden Lion Garden in Tai Wai, according to the CHP.

It added that the four imported cases involved a 48-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman returning from Ecuador, a 35-year-old woman from Indonesia and a 53-year-old man from Germany.

The rest of Tuesday’s newly confirmed patients, who all lived at the Visionary in Tung Chung, were related to an imported case. The city’s overall tally stood at 5,389.

Meanwhile, an 88-year-old man died at Yan Chai Hospital on Monday evening, pushing the city’s virus-related deaths to 108, according to the Hospital Authority (HA).

A total of 90 confirmed patients were being treated in 20 public hospitals as of Tuesday, including six patients in critical condition and three in serious condition, the HA added.
