Chinese mainland reports 11 new virus cases, all imported

BEIJING - No new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Wednesday across the Chinese mainland while 11 new imported cases were posted, the National Health Commission said Thursday.

Of the new imported cases, five were posted in Shanghai, three in Sichuan, and one each in Zhejiang, Fujian and Shaanxi, the commission said in its daily report.

One new suspected case, also imported, was reported in Shanghai, the commission said.

No additional deaths related to the disease were reported.

Another 16 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, said the commission, adding that there were 200 patients still being treated.

By the end of Wednesday, a total of 2,951 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,751 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 200 remained hospitalized, with one in severe condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

So far, a total of 85,500 confirmed cases had been reported on the mainland, including 80,666 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, the commission said.

There were five suspected cases on the mainland, according to the commission, while 8,712 close contacts were still under medical observation after 477 were released from observation.

Eight new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, were reported, and three asymptomatic cases were re-categorized as confirmed cases.

According to the commission, 366 asymptomatic cases, including 364 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

By Wednesday, 5,143 confirmed cases, including 105 deaths, had been reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in Macao SAR, and 523 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 4,885 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong SAR, 46 in Macao SAR and 486 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
