Virus: Mainland sees no new local cases, 12 imported

BEIJING - No new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported Monday across the Chinese mainland while 12 new imported cases were posted, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.

Of the new imported cases, five were reported in Guangdong, three in Sichuan, two in Shanghai, and one each in Tianjin and Shaanxi, the National Health Commission said

No new suspected cases or additional deaths related to the disease were reported, the commission said.

Another seven patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery, the commission said, adding that there were 213 patients still being treated.

By the end of Monday, a total of 2,933 imported cases had been reported on the mainland. Of them, 2,720 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery while 213 remained hospitalized, with one in severe condition. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.

So far, a total of 85,482 confirmed cases had been reported on the mainland, including 80,635 recoveries and 4,634 deaths, the commission said.

There were four suspected cases on the mainland, the commission said, while 8,721 close contacts were still under medical observation after 397 were released from observation.

Thirty-one new asymptomatic cases, all arriving from outside the mainland, were reported, and one asymptomatic case was re-categorized as confirmed case.

According to the commission, 375 asymptomatic cases, including 373 from outside the mainland, were still under medical observation.

By Monday, 5,124 confirmed cases, including 105 deaths, had been reported in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 46 cases in Macao SAR, and 518 cases, including seven deaths, in Taiwan.

A total of 4,864 COVID-19 patients in Hong Kong SAR, 46 in Macao SAR and 485 in Taiwan had been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
