CSL: Guangzhou beat Shenzhen, Shandong draw with Shanghai

DALIAN - Shandong Luneng were held to a 1-1 draw by Shanghai Shenhua in the 10th round of the Chinese Super League (CSL) here on Tuesday, while Guangzhou Evergrande beat Shenzhen FC 2-0.

Shandong went ahead in the 19th minute when striker Duan Liuyu miss-kicked the ball which flew into Graziano Pelle's way, and the Italian swept it in from close range.

Shanghai's best chance of the first half came in the 43rd minute as they were awarded a free-kick. But the shot from the Shanghai side's captain Giovanni Moreno was finger-tipped over the crossbar by Luneng goalkeeper Han Rongze.

Moreno equalized for Shanghai in the 81st minute, as the Columbia international dribbled, shrugging off four defenders in the box before firing an angled shot past Han.

With the draw, Luneng and Shenhua remain third and fourth ranked on the table with 17 and 13 points respectively.

The other game on Tuesday saw powerhouse Guangzhou defeat Shenzhen 2-0 thanks to aggressiveness by Brazilian midfielder Jose Paulo Bezzera Maciel Junior who opened the scoring in the 27th minute and contributed an accurate pass to seal the win in the 53rd minute.
