China urges India to withdraw trespassing forces at border

The Chinese military urged India to immediately retract its border forces that had trespassed into Chinese territory on Monday at the southern bank of Pangong Tso Lake in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region, Senior Colonel Zhang Shuili, spokesman of the People's Liberation Army Western Theater Command, said in a statement on Monday night.

"The action by India has severely violated China's territorial sovereignty, and severely damaged peace and stability at the China-India border," he said. "China strongly opposes this faithless act of repudiating past promises."

Zhang said the PLA solemnly demands India immediately retract its border forces, strictly manage and control its frontline servicemen and fulfill its promises to avoid further escalation.

"The Chinese military is taking necessary actions in response, and will closely monitor the situation to safeguard China's territorial sovereignty, as well as peace and stability in the border region," he added.
